Narrative:
After our air interrupt; the FAA inspector questioned a write-up in the maintenance write-up completed work concerning a fuel dipstick on the right wing. It had been signed off as ok to continue and completed work was circled; however; it was listed as deferred to the gpm. The captain then had technician facsimile to contract maintenance a clarification which was entered into the logbook and was signed off so we could continue.

Title: AN MD80 AFTER A RETURN TO THE DEP ARPT WAS INSPECTED BY AN FAA SAFETY INSPECTOR WHO FOUND 1 IMPROPER LOGBOOK ITEM. CREW CONTACTED MAINT CTL AND HAD LOGBOOK CORRECTED.
Narrative: AFTER OUR AIR INTERRUPT; THE FAA INSPECTOR QUESTIONED A WRITE-UP IN THE MAINT WRITE-UP COMPLETED WORK CONCERNING A FUEL DIPSTICK ON THE R WING. IT HAD BEEN SIGNED OFF AS OK TO CONTINUE AND COMPLETED WORK WAS CIRCLED; HOWEVER; IT WAS LISTED AS DEFERRED TO THE GPM. THE CAPT THEN HAD TECHNICIAN FAX TO CONTRACT MAINT A CLARIFICATION WHICH WAS ENTERED INTO THE LOGBOOK AND WAS SIGNED OFF SO WE COULD CONTINUE.
