Narrative:
This report concerns the B757 entry door indicating system MEL. Just prior to gate departure; flight attendant called from the aft galley stating that she was having difficulty closing the 4L door. I checked the EICAS screen which indicated that the 4L door was not open and that the first officer would come back to assist. She then stated that the door was closed. Based on the previous absence of the 'door open' light and the fact that the door was now armed and ready for departure; I assumed that she merely had difficulty arming the door and that the matter was no longer an issue. It was only after arrival at the destination and after further discussion did we manually open the door to discover that there was a discrepancy with the door light. Apparently the door switch failed in the 'closed' position which masked the open condition. Supplemental information from acn 688079: knowing that the slide would not arm if the door had not been closed we assumed that she was really having a problem arming the door and not closing it.

Title: B757 CABIN CREW HAS DIFFICULTY PROPERLY CLOSING THE AFT L DOOR. COCKPIT INDICATIONS ARE NORMAL; HOWEVER; AFTER LNDG AT DEST; 'DOOR LIGHT' IS FOUND TO BE STUCK I THE 'CLOSED' POS.
Narrative: THIS RPT CONCERNS THE B757 ENTRY DOOR INDICATING SYS MEL. JUST PRIOR TO GATE DEP; FLT ATTENDANT CALLED FROM THE AFT GALLEY STATING THAT SHE WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY CLOSING THE 4L DOOR. I CHKED THE EICAS SCREEN WHICH INDICATED THAT THE 4L DOOR WAS NOT OPEN AND THAT THE FO WOULD COME BACK TO ASSIST. SHE THEN STATED THAT THE DOOR WAS CLOSED. BASED ON THE PREVIOUS ABSENCE OF THE 'DOOR OPEN' LIGHT AND THE FACT THAT THE DOOR WAS NOW ARMED AND READY FOR DEP; I ASSUMED THAT SHE MERELY HAD DIFFICULTY ARMING THE DOOR AND THAT THE MATTER WAS NO LONGER AN ISSUE. IT WAS ONLY AFTER ARR AT THE DEST AND AFTER FURTHER DISCUSSION DID WE MANUALLY OPEN THE DOOR TO DISCOVER THAT THERE WAS A DISCREPANCY WITH THE DOOR LIGHT. APPARENTLY THE DOOR SWITCH FAILED IN THE 'CLOSED' POS WHICH MASKED THE OPEN CONDITION. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 688079: KNOWING THAT THE SLIDE WOULD NOT ARM IF THE DOOR HAD NOT BEEN CLOSED WE ASSUMED THAT SHE WAS REALLY HAVING A PROB ARMING THE DOOR AND NOT CLOSING IT.
