Narrative:
Announced departing on runway 33 at emv. Visually scanned for traffic on final. No traffic observed or self-announcing. Unicom unattended. Just as becoming airborne; saw shadow of an aircraft to our left. Aircraft appeared to be a cherokee I a climbing left turn. No evasive action necessary for us. No explanation why we did not see or hear any transmission from the other aircraft. There was no other traffic in the area.

Title: C17 PLT RPTS THAT AFTER TKOF FROM AN UNCTLED FIELD (EMV) HE ENCOUNTERS ANOTHER ACFT CLOSE ABEAM AT LESS THAN 300 FT.
Narrative: ANNOUNCED DEPARTING ON RWY 33 AT EMV. VISUALLY SCANNED FOR TFC ON FINAL. NO TFC OBSERVED OR SELF-ANNOUNCING. UNICOM UNATTENDED. JUST AS BECOMING AIRBORNE; SAW SHADOW OF AN ACFT TO OUR L. ACFT APPEARED TO BE A CHEROKEE I A CLBING L TURN. NO EVASIVE ACTION NECESSARY FOR US. NO EXPLANATION WHY WE DID NOT SEE OR HEAR ANY XMISSION FROM THE OTHER ACFT. THERE WAS NO OTHER TFC IN THE AREA.
