Narrative:
Upon reaching parking spot; aircraft was facing south; fully stopped with parking brake on; waiting for ramp personnel to move equipment. Ramp personnel driving a tug pulling 2 cargo wagons and gpu in rear; made sweeping 'U' in front of aircraft. At this point; gpu disconnected and headed toward #1 engine (left side). Tried to shut down engine before impact. The gpu and propeller impacted and debris was scattered. No one on board or on ramp sustained injury.

Title: ATR72 IS DAMAGED ON GND BY GPU.
Narrative: UPON REACHING PARKING SPOT; ACFT WAS FACING S; FULLY STOPPED WITH PARKING BRAKE ON; WAITING FOR RAMP PERSONNEL TO MOVE EQUIP. RAMP PERSONNEL DRIVING A TUG PULLING 2 CARGO WAGONS AND GPU IN REAR; MADE SWEEPING 'U' IN FRONT OF ACFT. AT THIS POINT; GPU DISCONNECTED AND HEADED TOWARD #1 ENG (L SIDE). TRIED TO SHUT DOWN ENG BEFORE IMPACT. THE GPU AND PROP IMPACTED AND DEBRIS WAS SCATTERED. NO ONE ON BOARD OR ON RAMP SUSTAINED INJURY.
