Narrative:
On SID vectors. Shortly after getting airborne; we received multiple smoke warnings on ECAM. Donned oxygen masks and declared an emergency with tower. Tower cleared us to land and we climbed to 2000 ft and turned downwind for runway 36L. Did not have time to program FMS for ILS approach to runway 36L but had frequency and course in ILS. Turned approximately 4 mile final for runway 36L. Tower advised of a low altitude alert on base leg. Captain leveled the aircraft so as to intercept GS on final. Completed before landing checklist and captain accomplished an overweight landing to full stop. Turned off taxiway M and accomplished emergency evacuation checklist. Crew and 1 jumpseater evacuated aircraft through main cabin door; R1. First officer had to deploy slide manually as automatic inflation and slide deployment cycle did not function. Normally door assist will open door and deploy slide. Crew and jumpseater utilized emergency escape slide to egress aircraft uneventfully. Cause of smoke/fumes was determined to be air conditioning pack. Loss of situational awareness caused us to get low on base leg to final.callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that prior to 2000 ft; the crew experienced multiple smoke warnings and fumes. Crew donned smoke masks and declared an emergency and returned. Maintenance replaced the air cycle machine and the water bags.

Title: AN A310 ON TKOF CLB AT 2000 FT DECLARED AN EMER AND RETURNED TO THE DEP ARPT DUE TO MULTIPLE SMOKE WARNINGS AND FUMES. ACFT EVACUATED ON GND.
Narrative: ON SID VECTORS. SHORTLY AFTER GETTING AIRBORNE; WE RECEIVED MULTIPLE SMOKE WARNINGS ON ECAM. DONNED OXYGEN MASKS AND DECLARED AN EMER WITH TWR. TWR CLRED US TO LAND AND WE CLBED TO 2000 FT AND TURNED DOWNWIND FOR RWY 36L. DID NOT HAVE TIME TO PROGRAM FMS FOR ILS APCH TO RWY 36L BUT HAD FREQ AND COURSE IN ILS. TURNED APPROX 4 MILE FINAL FOR RWY 36L. TWR ADVISED OF A LOW ALT ALERT ON BASE LEG. CAPT LEVELED THE ACFT SO AS TO INTERCEPT GS ON FINAL. COMPLETED BEFORE LNDG CHKLIST AND CAPT ACCOMPLISHED AN OVERWT LNDG TO FULL STOP. TURNED OFF TXWY M AND ACCOMPLISHED EMER EVACUATION CHKLIST. CREW AND 1 JUMPSEATER EVACUATED ACFT THROUGH MAIN CABIN DOOR; R1. FO HAD TO DEPLOY SLIDE MANUALLY AS AUTO INFLATION AND SLIDE DEPLOYMENT CYCLE DID NOT FUNCTION. NORMALLY DOOR ASSIST WILL OPEN DOOR AND DEPLOY SLIDE. CREW AND JUMPSEATER UTILIZED EMER ESCAPE SLIDE TO EGRESS ACFT UNEVENTFULLY. CAUSE OF SMOKE/FUMES WAS DETERMINED TO BE AIR CONDITIONING PACK. LOSS OF SITUATIONAL AWARENESS CAUSED US TO GET LOW ON BASE LEG TO FINAL.CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THAT PRIOR TO 2000 FT; THE CREW EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE SMOKE WARNINGS AND FUMES. CREW DONNED SMOKE MASKS AND DECLARED AN EMER AND RETURNED. MAINT REPLACED THE AIR CYCLE MACHINE AND THE WATER BAGS.
