Narrative:
While we were waiting; tower gave a B737 clearance to land and advised them that there would be a departing CRJ900 prior to their landing and gave us a clearance for an immediate takeoff on runway 36L. I read back the clearance and the captain applied power to taxi onto the runway the captain also announced to me that he was 'off one' and switched to the intercom to complete item #10 of our checklist to advise the flight attendants. We had been expecting a few more mins of delay and forgot to complete item #10 on our before takeoff checklist and the captain wanted to complete this item so we could finish the 'below the line' items as we were taxiing onto the runway. The tower controller must have realized that there was not enough time between our departure and the landing B737 and subsequently gave us a second hold short of runway 36L clearance; after we had started moving. I repeated the new clearance and told the captain to hold short but since we were so close to the hold short line to begin with we had already crossed the line. In addition; the captain forgot to switch back onto the frequency and as a result missed the controller's call to hold short of runway 36L. By the time I realized that the captain had not heard the second hold short clearance we were already 'well' past the hold short line. The controller asked us if we had already crossed the line and I replied in the affirmative. The controller then told the B737 to go around with a vector and said that there had been a runway occurrence. The controller then cleared us for takeoff for the second time. After takeoff; the captain and I discussed what had taken place concurred that 2 factors were apparent: 1) we should have completed item #10 of our checklist sooner. Not doing so resulted in the captain talking on the intercom while the aircraft was in motion and concurrently with me reading back the tower clrncs and trying to complete the 'below the line' items on the before takeoff checklist. Although we were past the hold short line the captain hearing the second hold short clearance would have prevented us from rolling as far as we did across the hold short line. Our aircraft was about 10 ft across the line when we got the second hold short clearance and about 1/2 way across before we finally stopped. 2) the controller gave us a clearance for takeoff and then a hold short clearance after we had already crossed the hold short line.

Title: CRJ900 FLT CREW HAS A RWY INCURSION AT RWY 36L CLT.
Narrative: WHILE WE WERE WAITING; TWR GAVE A B737 CLRNC TO LAND AND ADVISED THEM THAT THERE WOULD BE A DEPARTING CRJ900 PRIOR TO THEIR LNDG AND GAVE US A CLRNC FOR AN IMMEDIATE TKOF ON RWY 36L. I READ BACK THE CLRNC AND THE CAPT APPLIED PWR TO TAXI ONTO THE RWY THE CAPT ALSO ANNOUNCED TO ME THAT HE WAS 'OFF ONE' AND SWITCHED TO THE INTERCOM TO COMPLETE ITEM #10 OF OUR CHKLIST TO ADVISE THE FLT ATTENDANTS. WE HAD BEEN EXPECTING A FEW MORE MINS OF DELAY AND FORGOT TO COMPLETE ITEM #10 ON OUR BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST AND THE CAPT WANTED TO COMPLETE THIS ITEM SO WE COULD FINISH THE 'BELOW THE LINE' ITEMS AS WE WERE TAXIING ONTO THE RWY. THE TWR CTLR MUST HAVE REALIZED THAT THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH TIME BTWN OUR DEP AND THE LNDG B737 AND SUBSEQUENTLY GAVE US A SECOND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 36L CLRNC; AFTER WE HAD STARTED MOVING. I REPEATED THE NEW CLRNC AND TOLD THE CAPT TO HOLD SHORT BUT SINCE WE WERE SO CLOSE TO THE HOLD SHORT LINE TO BEGIN WITH WE HAD ALREADY CROSSED THE LINE. IN ADDITION; THE CAPT FORGOT TO SWITCH BACK ONTO THE FREQ AND AS A RESULT MISSED THE CTLR'S CALL TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 36L. BY THE TIME I REALIZED THAT THE CAPT HAD NOT HEARD THE SECOND HOLD SHORT CLRNC WE WERE ALREADY 'WELL' PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE. THE CTLR ASKED US IF WE HAD ALREADY CROSSED THE LINE AND I REPLIED IN THE AFFIRMATIVE. THE CTLR THEN TOLD THE B737 TO GO AROUND WITH A VECTOR AND SAID THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RWY OCCURRENCE. THE CTLR THEN CLRED US FOR TKOF FOR THE SECOND TIME. AFTER TKOF; THE CAPT AND I DISCUSSED WHAT HAD TAKEN PLACE CONCURRED THAT 2 FACTORS WERE APPARENT: 1) WE SHOULD HAVE COMPLETED ITEM #10 OF OUR CHKLIST SOONER. NOT DOING SO RESULTED IN THE CAPT TALKING ON THE INTERCOM WHILE THE ACFT WAS IN MOTION AND CONCURRENTLY WITH ME READING BACK THE TWR CLRNCS AND TRYING TO COMPLETE THE 'BELOW THE LINE' ITEMS ON THE BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST. ALTHOUGH WE WERE PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE THE CAPT HEARING THE SECOND HOLD SHORT CLRNC WOULD HAVE PREVENTED US FROM ROLLING AS FAR AS WE DID ACROSS THE HOLD SHORT LINE. OUR ACFT WAS ABOUT 10 FT ACROSS THE LINE WHEN WE GOT THE SECOND HOLD SHORT CLRNC AND ABOUT 1/2 WAY ACROSS BEFORE WE FINALLY STOPPED. 2) THE CTLR GAVE US A CLRNC FOR TKOF AND THEN A HOLD SHORT CLRNC AFTER WE HAD ALREADY CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE.
