Narrative:
Reported for duty may/wed/06; at XA50 central time. Normal first flight was in progress by all crewmembers when flight attendant entered the cockpit with a request. We proceeded to row 8 (emergency exit row) and she asked if the seats were alright as they were installed approximately 3 inches forward of what would be normal and the seat backs were blocking the bottom of both emergency exits by approximately 3 inches. She said she was sorry for not catching the discrepancy the evening before; at which point I contacted maintenance control and advised them of our problem. Approximately 4 hours; we ferried ship XXXX from mci; as flight XXXX. Aircraft was parked in remote parking and released to maintenance for repair.
