Narrative:

Still in initial climb; when we got low pressure light on left hydraulic system; went to irregularity checklist. Lost fluid and pressure in a very short time. Completed irregularity checklist. Declared an emergency; coordinated with ATC; dispatch; maintenance and crew then passenger. Returned to ZZZ and landed safely. Coordinated with operations. Got passenger and crew back to terminal via mobile lounges. Xferred control of jet to maintenance and operations. Both first officer's performed smoothly and professionally. It was my pleasure to fly with them both; the chief purser and his flight attendants.
