Narrative:
On previous flight ZZZ1-ZZZ2 on initial approach into ZZZ1 at approximately 4000 ft; went to extend flaps 1 degree and received message leading edge slat disagreement; accompanied by the leading edge light. Accomplished the appropriate checklist and extended flaps 20 degrees with alternate flap selector. Used checklist approach of vref 20 degrees; 142 KTS. At 152 KIAS; received stick shaker and flew an approach at 160 KTS; automatic brakes 4 degrees and had an uneventful landing and rollout. We declared an emergency with ZZZ1 as a precaution and had the emergency equipment standing by. On next leg; ZZZ1-ZZZ2 decided to debrief leading edge slat disagreement checklist again; just in case it happened again in going back to ZZZ2. They had flown a mechanic into ZZZ1 from ZZZ3 to repair the aircraft. He was unable to duplicate the flight control malfunction. We had the same situation; except that we were familiar with the procedure. Requested crash fire rescue equipment to stand by again; declared an emergency just as a precaution; extended our final approach and landed without incident.
