Narrative:
Received 14TH stage bleed overheat message in flight. Procedure accomplished and warning went away; but returned later. After cycling it remained on the rest of the flight. Procedures called for landing with the left engine at idle and conducting a flaps 20 degrees (vice 45 degrees) landing. A previous write-up indicated a loop or sensor problem instead of an actual overheat. An uneventful landing was conducted. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the cause of the 14TH stage warning was a sensing loop failure and was a false warning. A section of the left 14TH stage manifold sensing element was replaced for the fix.

Title: A CRJ100 IN DSCNT AT 18000 FT HAD THE 14TH STAGE BLEED OVERHEAT WARNING MESSAGE. PROC ACCOMPLISHED WARNING WENT AWAY. LATER CAME ON STEADY.
Narrative: RECEIVED 14TH STAGE BLEED OVERHEAT MESSAGE IN FLT. PROC ACCOMPLISHED AND WARNING WENT AWAY; BUT RETURNED LATER. AFTER CYCLING IT REMAINED ON THE REST OF THE FLT. PROCS CALLED FOR LNDG WITH THE L ENG AT IDLE AND CONDUCTING A FLAPS 20 DEGS (VICE 45 DEGS) LNDG. A PREVIOUS WRITE-UP INDICATED A LOOP OR SENSOR PROB INSTEAD OF AN ACTUAL OVERHEAT. AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG WAS CONDUCTED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE CAUSE OF THE 14TH STAGE WARNING WAS A SENSING LOOP FAILURE AND WAS A FALSE WARNING. A SECTION OF THE L 14TH STAGE MANIFOLD SENSING ELEMENT WAS REPLACED FOR THE FIX.
