Narrative:
The filed route was not the same as the canned company route due to a widespread area of en route WX. The route was: phl mxe pensy J110 flirt J6 colns J134 bum J110 gck DANDD5 den. The captain loaded the route and I later checked it 'on the glass' in plan mode. It had no discontinuities and took J110 all the way west like I thought it should. However; I didn't realize we were supposed to break off J110 to the south (J6 to J134) for a while and then re-join past the WX. After we passed flirt intersection on J110 and didn't turn onto J6; ATC inquired about our routing. I read him the correct routing and then realized we weren't on it. He then cleared us direct mrb to join our filed route and we updated the FMC accordingly. 1) read and understand your clearance. 2) xchk charts and don't just rely on the glass. A solid green line all the way to your destination does not mean it's correct.

Title: THE CREW OF AN A319 UPLINKED A FLT PLAN INTO THE FMC WHICH WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE FLT RELEASE AND DID NOT XCHK WITH CHARTS.
Narrative: THE FILED RTE WAS NOT THE SAME AS THE CANNED COMPANY RTE DUE TO A WIDESPREAD AREA OF ENRTE WX. THE RTE WAS: PHL MXE PENSY J110 FLIRT J6 COLNS J134 BUM J110 GCK DANDD5 DEN. THE CAPT LOADED THE RTE AND I LATER CHKED IT 'ON THE GLASS' IN PLAN MODE. IT HAD NO DISCONTINUITIES AND TOOK J110 ALL THE WAY W LIKE I THOUGHT IT SHOULD. HOWEVER; I DIDN'T REALIZE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BREAK OFF J110 TO THE S (J6 TO J134) FOR A WHILE AND THEN RE-JOIN PAST THE WX. AFTER WE PASSED FLIRT INTXN ON J110 AND DIDN'T TURN ONTO J6; ATC INQUIRED ABOUT OUR ROUTING. I READ HIM THE CORRECT ROUTING AND THEN REALIZED WE WEREN'T ON IT. HE THEN CLRED US DIRECT MRB TO JOIN OUR FILED RTE AND WE UPDATED THE FMC ACCORDINGLY. 1) READ AND UNDERSTAND YOUR CLRNC. 2) XCHK CHARTS AND DON'T JUST RELY ON THE GLASS. A SOLID GREEN LINE ALL THE WAY TO YOUR DEST DOES NOT MEAN IT'S CORRECT.
