Narrative:
Climbing through FL245 we experienced a brief vibration; heard a rumbling noise and lost power on the #1 engine. We notified ATC requesting a descent; determined a safest drift-down airspeed and ensured we had positive control of the airplane. We then complied with applicable QRH emergency and abnormal checklists; declared an emergency and determined that ZZZ was the nearest suitable airport based on our location and available landing distance. The first officer notified flight attendant of the problem and that we would make an emergency landing at ZZZ. Time remaining and type of emergency preparations to be used were clarified. First officer then informed the passenger. We conducted a visual approach and landed without incident. Supplemental information from acn 699841: an emergency was declared with ATC and we diverted to ZZZ. At ZZZ an overweight; single-engine landing was accomplished without further incident. On a postflt inspection; maintenance discovered the engine had lost all oil pressure due to failure of a cover plate on the accessory gear box.

Title: CRJ200 FLT CREW HAS #1 ENG FAIL DURING CLB; DECLARES EMER AND LANDS.
Narrative: CLBING THROUGH FL245 WE EXPERIENCED A BRIEF VIBRATION; HEARD A RUMBLING NOISE AND LOST PWR ON THE #1 ENG. WE NOTIFIED ATC REQUESTING A DSCNT; DETERMINED A SAFEST DRIFT-DOWN AIRSPD AND ENSURED WE HAD POSITIVE CTL OF THE AIRPLANE. WE THEN COMPLIED WITH APPLICABLE QRH EMER AND ABNORMAL CHKLISTS; DECLARED AN EMER AND DETERMINED THAT ZZZ WAS THE NEAREST SUITABLE ARPT BASED ON OUR LOCATION AND AVAILABLE LNDG DISTANCE. THE FO NOTIFIED FLT ATTENDANT OF THE PROB AND THAT WE WOULD MAKE AN EMER LNDG AT ZZZ. TIME REMAINING AND TYPE OF EMER PREPARATIONS TO BE USED WERE CLARIFIED. FO THEN INFORMED THE PAX. WE CONDUCTED A VISUAL APCH AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 699841: AN EMER WAS DECLARED WITH ATC AND WE DIVERTED TO ZZZ. AT ZZZ AN OVERWT; SINGLE-ENG LNDG WAS ACCOMPLISHED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. ON A POSTFLT INSPECTION; MAINT DISCOVERED THE ENG HAD LOST ALL OIL PRESSURE DUE TO FAILURE OF A COVER PLATE ON THE ACCESSORY GEAR BOX.
