Narrative:
We were departing to savannah; GA; late in the evening. We were first in line at the runway. I don't believe anyone was behind us. Tower said; 'air carrier Y position and hold runway 30.' we were air carrier X; so I said very clearly; 'position and hold runway 30; air carrier X.' I thought the controller made a mistake; so I read back our call sign very slow and clear. There was no response that we should not position and hold as air carrier X; so we did. Then we were cleared for takeoff as air carrier Y. I thought he made the same mistake; so I said slowly 'cleared for takeoff air carrier X.' no response that we should not take off; so we took off. At about 400 ft AGL the controller said; 'air carrier X; contact departure.' I said 'contact departure; air carrier X.' the controller said; 'who are you?' I said; 'air carrier X.' he said; 'where are you going?' I said 'savannah.' he said; 'I cleared air carrier Y to take off; I wish you would have told me; contact departure.' I will in the future make sure the controller knows who we are and says our call sign.

Narrative: WE WERE DEPARTING TO SAVANNAH; GA; LATE IN THE EVENING. WE WERE FIRST IN LINE AT THE RWY. I DON'T BELIEVE ANYONE WAS BEHIND US. TWR SAID; 'ACR Y POS AND HOLD RWY 30.' WE WERE ACR X; SO I SAID VERY CLRLY; 'POS AND HOLD RWY 30; ACR X.' I THOUGHT THE CTLR MADE A MISTAKE; SO I READ BACK OUR CALL SIGN VERY SLOW AND CLR. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE THAT WE SHOULD NOT POS AND HOLD AS ACR X; SO WE DID. THEN WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF AS ACR Y. I THOUGHT HE MADE THE SAME MISTAKE; SO I SAID SLOWLY 'CLRED FOR TKOF ACR X.' NO RESPONSE THAT WE SHOULD NOT TAKE OFF; SO WE TOOK OFF. AT ABOUT 400 FT AGL THE CTLR SAID; 'ACR X; CONTACT DEP.' I SAID 'CONTACT DEP; ACR X.' THE CTLR SAID; 'WHO ARE YOU?' I SAID; 'ACR X.' HE SAID; 'WHERE ARE YOU GOING?' I SAID 'SAVANNAH.' HE SAID; 'I CLRED ACR Y TO TAKE OFF; I WISH YOU WOULD HAVE TOLD ME; CONTACT DEP.' I WILL IN THE FUTURE MAKE SURE THE CTLR KNOWS WHO WE ARE AND SAYS OUR CALL SIGN.
