Narrative:
The R-1 window heat circuit breaker popped and would not reset; inbound from ZZZ. Contract maintenance (ZZZ) swapped #3 and #4 controllers; for troubleshooting. The problem followed. R-1 window heat; now good. The L-2 window heat was now inoperative. Misread MEL (unintentionally). I thought #2 on the MEL stood for the R-2 and L-2 window heat. I MEL'ed the L-2 window heat and advised dispatch. Local dispatch called and advised me of incorrect MEL used and unable to dispatch. Called ZZZ maintenance to advise them to prepare to correct problem and they advised me the aircraft had departed and airborne. I then advised dispatch and dispatch then rerted the aircraft safely around the WX and the aircraft arrived at ZZZ without incident.

Title: B737-300 WAS DISPATCHED WITH L #2 WINDSHIELD HEAT INOP PER THE MEL. ACFT WAS ROUTED IN KNOWN OR FORECAST ICING CONDITIONS.
Narrative: THE R-1 WINDOW HEAT CIRCUIT BREAKER POPPED AND WOULD NOT RESET; INBOUND FROM ZZZ. CONTRACT MAINT (ZZZ) SWAPPED #3 AND #4 CONTROLLERS; FOR TROUBLESHOOTING. THE PROB FOLLOWED. R-1 WINDOW HEAT; NOW GOOD. THE L-2 WINDOW HEAT WAS NOW INOP. MISREAD MEL (UNINTENTIONALLY). I THOUGHT #2 ON THE MEL STOOD FOR THE R-2 AND L-2 WINDOW HEAT. I MEL'ED THE L-2 WINDOW HEAT AND ADVISED DISPATCH. LCL DISPATCH CALLED AND ADVISED ME OF INCORRECT MEL USED AND UNABLE TO DISPATCH. CALLED ZZZ MAINT TO ADVISE THEM TO PREPARE TO CORRECT PROB AND THEY ADVISED ME THE ACFT HAD DEPARTED AND AIRBORNE. I THEN ADVISED DISPATCH AND DISPATCH THEN RERTED THE ACFT SAFELY AROUND THE WX AND THE ACFT ARRIVED AT ZZZ WITHOUT INCIDENT.
