Narrative:
Was leaving run-up area to taxi to hold short of runway 19R for takeoff at sna. Airbus crossed active runway and turned onto taxiway in front of me. I did not see him right away; and got closer than I would have wanted to before seeing him and braking hard. Ground control had cleared me to taxi to the next hold short point and had said 'give way to airbus' but did not say where the airbus was. I looked around before starting taxiing and didn't see the airbus; due to sun glare right behind the airbus. Contributing factors were: my lack of familiarity with early morning procedures in which passenger jets are routed across the runway to hold short on the west side; and not hearing controller state position of the airbus.
