Narrative:
On thursday; I was on reserve on call. I was called for an assignment. Due to delays; I completed my assignment with a block-in at XA00 and a debrief time complete at XA16. I was called for an assignment for next day at approximately XA15 and given a trip with an XM20 departure the next day. I was told that an exception to the contract allowing 12 hour time between trips was being invoked since I was the only reserve pilot available. After a maintenance debrief with the outbound crew; a trek from gate to operations; and checking my assignment for the next day; I headed home. I arrived home at about XC15. After some unwinding time; preparation of my uniform for the next day and some personal matters; I was able to get to bed at XE00. I planned for an XJ30 wake-up for my next day's assignment. I received a call at XI30 to inform me that my departure had slid 45 mins. With my rest being disturbed by the call from crew scheduling; and unable to get back to sleep after tossing and turning for over 1 hour; I called the crew desk to inform them that I would be unable to fly the trip as assigned due to fatigue. (If not for the well-intentioned; but poorly timed call from crew scheduling; I would have most likely been able to safely fly the trip as a scheduled.) I was called immediately following my call to find out when I'd be rested enough to fly. I informed them that that would depend on if/when I was able to get back to sleep and that I would call them when I was able to safely fly; which I did.

Title: FLT CREW MEMBER RPTS HAVING HIS REST DISTURBED BY SCHEDULING AND NOT ACCEPTING A TRIP ASSIGNMENT.
Narrative: ON THURSDAY; I WAS ON RESERVE ON CALL. I WAS CALLED FOR AN ASSIGNMENT. DUE TO DELAYS; I COMPLETED MY ASSIGNMENT WITH A BLOCK-IN AT XA00 AND A DEBRIEF TIME COMPLETE AT XA16. I WAS CALLED FOR AN ASSIGNMENT FOR NEXT DAY AT APPROX XA15 AND GIVEN A TRIP WITH AN XM20 DEP THE NEXT DAY. I WAS TOLD THAT AN EXCEPTION TO THE CONTRACT ALLOWING 12 HR TIME BTWN TRIPS WAS BEING INVOKED SINCE I WAS THE ONLY RESERVE PLT AVAILABLE. AFTER A MAINT DEBRIEF WITH THE OUTBOUND CREW; A TREK FROM GATE TO OPS; AND CHKING MY ASSIGNMENT FOR THE NEXT DAY; I HEADED HOME. I RECEIVED A CALL AT XI30 TO INFORM ME THAT MY DEP HAD SLID 45 MINS. WITH MY REST BEING DISTURBED BY THE CALL FROM CREW SCHEDULING; AND UNABLE TO GET BACK TO SLEEP AFTER TOSSING AND TURNING FOR OVER 1 HR; I CALLED THE CREW DESK TO INFORM THEM THAT I WOULD BE UNABLE TO FLY THE TRIP AS ASSIGNED DUE TO FATIGUE.
