Narrative:
C208 was turned in for routine 100 hour/annual inspection on sep/xb/05. Unknown to the owner/operator and pilots; an airworthiness directive was just coming due on the propeller at that same time. The repair facility overlooked the airworthiness directive and signed the aircraft off as airworthy and it was flown through the next 100 hour/annual on jul/xa/06. The same repair facility under the direction of a new director of maintenance immediately discovered the airworthiness directive and notified the owner. Within 36 hours a new replacement propeller was ordered and shipped to resolve the issue. It has been installed and the aircraft meets all conformity issues. This is one of a large number of improperly performed maintenance issues by the previous director of maintenance at that repair facility which are all collectively being resolved by the new dom and crew and the local FSDO. It is the collective experience of the owner operator and pilots to question and review with the maintenance facility that indeed all airworthiness directives have been searched and attended to by appropriate measure. No such situation has occurred with any of the pilots which collectively total more than 10000 hours of flight time.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A C208 WAS FLOWN 100 HRS IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH AN AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE. AT LAST 100 HR INSPECTION THE PROP AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE WAS JUST COMING DUE.
Narrative: C208 WAS TURNED IN FOR ROUTINE 100 HR/ANNUAL INSPECTION ON SEP/XB/05. UNKNOWN TO THE OWNER/OPERATOR AND PLTS; AN AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE WAS JUST COMING DUE ON THE PROP AT THAT SAME TIME. THE REPAIR FACILITY OVERLOOKED THE AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE AND SIGNED THE ACFT OFF AS AIRWORTHY AND IT WAS FLOWN THROUGH THE NEXT 100 HR/ANNUAL ON JUL/XA/06. THE SAME REPAIR FACILITY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF A NEW DIRECTOR OF MAINT IMMEDIATELY DISCOVERED THE AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE AND NOTIFIED THE OWNER. WITHIN 36 HRS A NEW REPLACEMENT PROP WAS ORDERED AND SHIPPED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. IT HAS BEEN INSTALLED AND THE ACFT MEETS ALL CONFORMITY ISSUES. THIS IS ONE OF A LARGE NUMBER OF IMPROPERLY PERFORMED MAINT ISSUES BY THE PREVIOUS DIRECTOR OF MAINT AT THAT REPAIR FACILITY WHICH ARE ALL COLLECTIVELY BEING RESOLVED BY THE NEW DOM AND CREW AND THE LCL FSDO. IT IS THE COLLECTIVE EXPERIENCE OF THE OWNER OPERATOR AND PLTS TO QUESTION AND REVIEW WITH THE MAINT FACILITY THAT INDEED ALL AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES HAVE BEEN SEARCHED AND ATTENDED TO BY APPROPRIATE MEASURE. NO SUCH SITUATION HAS OCCURRED WITH ANY OF THE PLTS WHICH COLLECTIVELY TOTAL MORE THAN 10000 HRS OF FLT TIME.
