Narrative:

During rollout on runway 7L; I asked the first officer to keep an eye on the airbus on taxiway G. (He was holding short of runway 7L facing northeast towards the terminal.) tower issued instructions in german; and the airbus began to cross our runway. At this time; our speed was 90-100 KTS. Tower issued us instructions to 'slow down' and follow the airbus. During our debrief of the event; we all felt this would be an unacceptable practice in the states. Is this acceptable ATC procedure? If so; air crews need to be informed. Had there been any kind of braking problem on our part; or if something had happened to the airbus after entering the runway; this could have been a problem.
