Narrative:
We picked up a clearance from dal to shv using pre departure clearance on the FMS. The pre departure clearance route read 'dall 8 uim eic shv' and further showed the fpr; which read the same. The PF programmed the FMS; and when selecting the SID; chose dall 8; then the eic transition instead of uim. I was PIC; but the PNF; and I briefly looked at the FMS but not carefully enough. I failed to notice the error. On departure; we were given 'heading 060 degrees; soldo when able.' soldo was not in the box; so I queried the controller. After a brief exchange; we were given a vector to join the 084 radial east of maverick VOR. I reprogrammed the box quickly and advised we were able soldo but the controller declined. On the next frequency we were advised to call approach controller when on the ground. I called and explained our error. Dallas said they get this frequently from crews who receive pre departure clearance clrncs. In retrospect; I should have doublechked the FMS programming. Additionally; the pre departure clearance is slightly confusing in that it does not conform to the text on the SID. The SID reads 'dall 8.uim;' whereas the pre departure clearance only showed 'dall 8 uim eic;' which does not appear to be the uim transition when the period is left out.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: C560 FLT CREW PROGRAMS WRONG TRANSITION TO FMS ON DEP FROM DAL.
Narrative: WE PICKED UP A CLRNC FROM DAL TO SHV USING PDC ON THE FMS. THE PDC RTE READ 'DALL 8 UIM EIC SHV' AND FURTHER SHOWED THE FPR; WHICH READ THE SAME. ON DEP; WE WERE GIVEN 'HDG 060 DEGS; SOLDO WHEN ABLE.' SOLDO WAS NOT IN THE BOX; SO I QUERIED THE CTLR. AFTER A BRIEF EXCHANGE; WE WERE GIVEN A VECTOR TO JOIN THE 084 RADIAL E OF MAVERICK VOR. I REPROGRAMMED THE BOX QUICKLY AND ADVISED WE WERE ABLE SOLDO BUT THE CTLR DECLINED. ON THE NEXT FREQ WE WERE ADVISED TO CALL APCH CTLR WHEN ON THE GND. I CALLED AND EXPLAINED OUR ERROR. DALLAS SAID THEY GET THIS FREQUENTLY FROM CREWS WHO RECEIVE PDC CLRNCS. IN RETROSPECT; I SHOULD HAVE DOUBLECHKED THE FMS PROGRAMMING. ADDITIONALLY; THE PDC IS SLIGHTLY CONFUSING IN THAT IT DOES NOT CONFORM TO THE TEXT ON THE SID. THE SID READS 'DALL 8.UIM;' WHEREAS THE PDC ONLY SHOWED 'DALL 8 UIM EIC;' WHICH DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE THE UIM TRANSITION WHEN THE PERIOD IS LEFT OUT.
