Narrative:
Upon returning from a photo mission just east of downtown chicago; I noticed a large crowd gathered and moving down an avenue. I made a spur of the moment decision to photograph the crowd oblique style as well as vertical. The vertical shoot put me in the situation for which I am submitting this report. There were 3 news choppers in the vicinity of the gathered crowd. My vertical attempt put me some 400-500 ft directly above one of the helicopters and approximately 1000-2000 ft horizontal from 2 other helicopters and the bldgs downtown. I wasn't in contact with the helicopters or any controllers. After I had turned away and headed back for home base; I began to feel that this spur of the moment photo shoot was reckless in nature and possibly violated far's (91.13; 91.111; 91.119) and 14 crash fire rescue equipment section 99.7 among possibly others.
