Narrative:

Aircraft had #1 thrust reverser deferred inoperative (and deactivated) 2 days prior. Upon exterior preflight I observed that the thrust reverser deactivation pins (red) were not protruding from the engine cowling indicating deactivation. Requested maintenance personnel inspect and they confirmed that it had not been deactivated properly.

Title: A B737-300 L ENG THRUST REVERSER WAS DEFERRED AS INOP PER THE MEL. ON CHK FOUND DEACTIVATION RED PINS NOT PROTRUDING FROM ENG COWLING.

Narrative: ACFT HAD #1 THRUST REVERSER DEFERRED INOP (AND DEACTIVATED) 2 DAYS PRIOR. UPON EXTERIOR PREFLT I OBSERVED THAT THE THRUST REVERSER DEACTIVATION PINS (RED) WERE NOT PROTRUDING FROM THE ENG COWLING INDICATING DEACTIVATION. REQUESTED MAINT PERSONNEL INSPECT AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT IT HAD NOT BEEN DEACTIVATED PROPERLY.
