Narrative:
After airplane start; planes were departing runway 19 at teb; so in an attempt to get a head start on things I briefed the teb 5 departure runway 19. But when we called for taxi; they assigned runway 24; so then briefed the runway 24 departure. Sat on the ground after that for about 20 mins before cleared for takeoff. Our company procedure for this departure is set 2000 ft in the altitude select; even though you must maintain 1500 ft until the 4.5 DME of the VOR. So on the departure; we climbed to 1800 ft MSL before we got to the 4.5 DME fix and noticed it; and went back down to 1500 ft until the 4.5 DME. We were asked to call a 1-800 number once we arrived at our destination. We called once on the ground; spoke to a gentleman; and he asked if we were familiar with the departure and that no action would be taken against us. Contributing factors: 25 min delay in takeoff; a turn into the sun; with haze. VFR with no TCAS (eyes outside) company policy setting altitude select 2000 ft instead of 1500 ft (makes autoplt useless.)
