Narrative:
At FL220 a thud was heard along with tilted aircraft attitude. Plane flew slightly tipped to left side. Ovens turned off. Wings seemed to tip. Got a call from #1 flight attendant that we lost an engine and would be returning to ZZZ landing in 25 mins. We were told by captain he didn't think we would evacuate/evacuation but to review our evacuate/evacuation procedures. We landed without incident. Followed in by fire crew and ambulances. When we stopped; flight attendants looked out over wing exits to see if we saw smoke coming from engine. We did not. Fire crew verified there was no smoke. During descent there were times the plane shuddered and made loud vibrations. Taxied to gate -- no further incident.
