Narrative:
During overnight cleaning/servicing; an employee found loose wires on floor for center aisle emergency lights at seat 16A and covered the wires with brown tape. The employee then used a memo form to notify the oncoming flight crew and the station general manager of what was found. The outbound flight crew did not notify maintenance of this discrepancy and flew the aircraft on a revenue flight. The next crew found the memorandum in the cockpit and notified maintenance. We went out to the aircraft and found the floor emergency light strip damaged. We replaced the emergency light strip and returned the aircraft to service.
