Narrative:
After coordinating with another sector; the trainer noticed an overtake on J6 between 2 aircraft at FL320. Instructor told the trainee to descend air carrier Y. The trainer descended to FL290. The instructor said to go to FL240. I then noticed air carrier X at FL280 about 5 mi in front. It took a min to see the speeds of the 2 aircraft. When I noticed a 60 KT overtake I informed the instructor. He told me he knew this and that's why he expedited the aircraft. When I finally realized he was talking about a different aircraft; it was too late.
