Narrative:
I svced both engines with oil out of our 55 gal drum. I noticed that the job card requires that bulk oil be put through a 10 micron filter before use. I called supervisor to verify that our drum had a 10 micron filter in it. He then went to investigate while I cleaned up so that I could end my shift on time; at XB00. I made a maintenance entry in the logbook that stated that I could not verify if the oil I used to service the engines met the 10 micron filter requirement as per the CRJ700 amm. I svced the oil at approximately XA20; and I called (supervisor) when I got back to the line maintenance office at approximately XA40. I then clocked out at XB00. I asked supervisor if he knew if our drums have a filter in them. He talked with manager and apparently they found that there is no such filter installed. After I left work; management decided to flush both engines and re-service with oil from cans.

Title: A CRJ700 HAD BOTH ENGS SVCED WITH TURBINE OIL FROM A 55 GAL DRUM. TECHNICIAN UNAWARE IF OIL DRUM WAS EQUIPPED WITH REQUIRED FILTER.
Narrative: I SVCED BOTH ENGS WITH OIL OUT OF OUR 55 GAL DRUM. I NOTICED THAT THE JOB CARD REQUIRES THAT BULK OIL BE PUT THROUGH A 10 MICRON FILTER BEFORE USE. I CALLED SUPVR TO VERIFY THAT OUR DRUM HAD A 10 MICRON FILTER IN IT. HE THEN WENT TO INVESTIGATE WHILE I CLEANED UP SO THAT I COULD END MY SHIFT ON TIME; AT XB00. I MADE A MAINT ENTRY IN THE LOGBOOK THAT STATED THAT I COULD NOT VERIFY IF THE OIL I USED TO SVC THE ENGS MET THE 10 MICRON FILTER REQUIREMENT AS PER THE CRJ700 AMM. I SVCED THE OIL AT APPROX XA20; AND I CALLED (SUPVR) WHEN I GOT BACK TO THE LINE MAINT OFFICE AT APPROX XA40. I THEN CLOCKED OUT AT XB00. I ASKED SUPVR IF HE KNEW IF OUR DRUMS HAVE A FILTER IN THEM. HE TALKED WITH MGR AND APPARENTLY THEY FOUND THAT THERE IS NO SUCH FILTER INSTALLED. AFTER I LEFT WORK; MGMNT DECIDED TO FLUSH BOTH ENGS AND RE-SVC WITH OIL FROM CANS.
