Narrative:
After landing in sea on runway 34L; captain taxied off the runway and tower directed that we do the double right turn taxiway H to taxiway J and hold short of runway 34R. The captain made the turn onto taxiway J and noticed that the aircraft on runway 34R was on takeoff roll and then quickly turned off the wing and nose lights for the departing aircraft on runway 34R and did not apply enough braking for the speed. The first officer made note of the approaching hold line and the captain applied more braking action. The aircraft came to a stop just short or right on top of a portion of the hold line and we believe we did not cross the plane but it was close. Tower did not say anything nor did they abort the takeoff of the departing aircraft. Just want to note that the tower did nothing wrong. Next time I will apply more (harder) braking early on and worry about the taxi lights 'after' coming to a complete stop at the hold line; not trying to do both at the same time. The hold line comes quickly after turning onto taxiway J and now you are angled towards the aircraft that is taking off and may cause them concern as they now see a set of lights heading towards them. My priority moved from stopping the aircraft to the pilots taking off and seeing my lights. The hold line on taxiway J is quite a distance from the runway and tight on the double turn; do not know if it could be moved closer to the runway edge just like at the departure ends for the same runways. Supplemental information from acn 708218: after landing on runway 34L and exiting high speed taxiway H; tower directed us to 'make the double right turn onto taxiway J and hold short of runway 34R.' we exited the runway and while complying with tower instructions I noticed we were approaching the hold short line slightly faster than usual. I called this out to the captain who immediately got on the brakes and stopped just short or right on top of the hold short line. We didn't cross the line but it was close. Tower then instructed us to cross after departing traffic was clear. In hindsight we did not need to be so assertive trying to make the exit at taxiway J and informed tower we wanted to stay on the high speed exit taxiway H. Also; we should have immediately started slowing with the 'hold short' instruction from tower.

Title: AN MD80 FLT CREW AFTER LNDG RWY 34L AT SEA MAY HAVE ENCROACHED ON RWY 34R WHEN THE CAPT WAS DISTR TURNING OFF THE ACFT LIGHTS.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG IN SEA ON RWY 34L; CAPT TAXIED OFF THE RWY AND TWR DIRECTED THAT WE DO THE DOUBLE R TURN TXWY H TO TXWY J AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 34R. THE CAPT MADE THE TURN ONTO TXWY J AND NOTICED THAT THE ACFT ON RWY 34R WAS ON TKOF ROLL AND THEN QUICKLY TURNED OFF THE WING AND NOSE LIGHTS FOR THE DEPARTING ACFT ON RWY 34R AND DID NOT APPLY ENOUGH BRAKING FOR THE SPD. THE FO MADE NOTE OF THE APCHING HOLD LINE AND THE CAPT APPLIED MORE BRAKING ACTION. THE ACFT CAME TO A STOP JUST SHORT OR RIGHT ON TOP OF A PORTION OF THE HOLD LINE AND WE BELIEVE WE DID NOT CROSS THE PLANE BUT IT WAS CLOSE. TWR DID NOT SAY ANYTHING NOR DID THEY ABORT THE TKOF OF THE DEPARTING ACFT. JUST WANT TO NOTE THAT THE TWR DID NOTHING WRONG. NEXT TIME I WILL APPLY MORE (HARDER) BRAKING EARLY ON AND WORRY ABOUT THE TAXI LIGHTS 'AFTER' COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AT THE HOLD LINE; NOT TRYING TO DO BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. THE HOLD LINE COMES QUICKLY AFTER TURNING ONTO TXWY J AND NOW YOU ARE ANGLED TOWARDS THE ACFT THAT IS TAKING OFF AND MAY CAUSE THEM CONCERN AS THEY NOW SEE A SET OF LIGHTS HEADING TOWARDS THEM. MY PRIORITY MOVED FROM STOPPING THE ACFT TO THE PLTS TAKING OFF AND SEEING MY LIGHTS. THE HOLD LINE ON TXWY J IS QUITE A DISTANCE FROM THE RWY AND TIGHT ON THE DOUBLE TURN; DO NOT KNOW IF IT COULD BE MOVED CLOSER TO THE RWY EDGE JUST LIKE AT THE DEP ENDS FOR THE SAME RWYS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 708218: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 34L AND EXITING HIGH SPD TXWY H; TWR DIRECTED US TO 'MAKE THE DOUBLE R TURN ONTO TXWY J AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 34R.' WE EXITED THE RWY AND WHILE COMPLYING WITH TWR INSTRUCTIONS I NOTICED WE WERE APCHING THE HOLD SHORT LINE SLIGHTLY FASTER THAN USUAL. I CALLED THIS OUT TO THE CAPT WHO IMMEDIATELY GOT ON THE BRAKES AND STOPPED JUST SHORT OR RIGHT ON TOP OF THE HOLD SHORT LINE. WE DIDN'T CROSS THE LINE BUT IT WAS CLOSE. TWR THEN INSTRUCTED US TO CROSS AFTER DEPARTING TFC WAS CLR. IN HINDSIGHT WE DID NOT NEED TO BE SO ASSERTIVE TRYING TO MAKE THE EXIT AT TXWY J AND INFORMED TWR WE WANTED TO STAY ON THE HIGH SPD EXIT TXWY H. ALSO; WE SHOULD HAVE IMMEDIATELY STARTED SLOWING WITH THE 'HOLD SHORT' INSTRUCTION FROM TWR.
