Narrative:
FAA showed up about 20 mins prior to departure for the cockpit jumpseat. After verifying his credentials and giving him ours; we started the checklist. About 12 mins prior to scheduled departure time the agent came down to see if he could close the door. The captain said that we were ready and to go ahead. At that point we had not gotten to the fuel panel part of the checklist. When we did; we noticed they were still fueling the airplane. After finishing the checklist the FAA inspector asked if our fueling manual allowed us to fuel the airplane with all our doors closed. The captain told him it does not. It got very busy around that time with the inspector showing up and the agent closing the door 12 mins early. The airplane did not come in late so we didn't expect a delay because of fueling. We even started the checklist a few mins earlier than we normally do because we were going to leave early. Maybe next time we should wait until finishing the checklist before allowing the agent to shut the door.

Title: MD80 CREW ALLOWS CABIN DOOR TO BE CLOSED WHILE THE ACFT IS BEING FUELED AND THE FAA ON THE JUMPSEAT.
Narrative: FAA SHOWED UP ABOUT 20 MINS PRIOR TO DEP FOR THE COCKPIT JUMPSEAT. AFTER VERIFYING HIS CREDENTIALS AND GIVING HIM OURS; WE STARTED THE CHKLIST. ABOUT 12 MINS PRIOR TO SCHEDULED DEP TIME THE AGENT CAME DOWN TO SEE IF HE COULD CLOSE THE DOOR. THE CAPT SAID THAT WE WERE READY AND TO GO AHEAD. AT THAT POINT WE HAD NOT GOTTEN TO THE FUEL PANEL PART OF THE CHKLIST. WHEN WE DID; WE NOTICED THEY WERE STILL FUELING THE AIRPLANE. AFTER FINISHING THE CHKLIST THE FAA INSPECTOR ASKED IF OUR FUELING MANUAL ALLOWED US TO FUEL THE AIRPLANE WITH ALL OUR DOORS CLOSED. THE CAPT TOLD HIM IT DOES NOT. IT GOT VERY BUSY AROUND THAT TIME WITH THE INSPECTOR SHOWING UP AND THE AGENT CLOSING THE DOOR 12 MINS EARLY. THE AIRPLANE DID NOT COME IN LATE SO WE DIDN'T EXPECT A DELAY BECAUSE OF FUELING. WE EVEN STARTED THE CHKLIST A FEW MINS EARLIER THAN WE NORMALLY DO BECAUSE WE WERE GOING TO LEAVE EARLY. MAYBE NEXT TIME WE SHOULD WAIT UNTIL FINISHING THE CHKLIST BEFORE ALLOWING THE AGENT TO SHUT THE DOOR.
