Narrative:
After a longer than normal wait for departure; crew departed runway 24 at teb via teb 5 departure. Initial climb was to be 1500 ft MSL passing 4.5 DME from teb; before continuing climb to 2000 ft MSL. On takeoff and initial climb; crew was distraction as they approached/passed through 1500 ft prior to crossing 4.5 per SID. Climb was arrested prior to reaching 1800 ft where the aircraft returned smartly to 1500 ft MSL. There were no reported traffic conflicts. Correction: conduct an abbreviated departure brief to restate departure restrs prior to assuming active runway for departure.
