Narrative:
While in cruise on a routine flight; we received a call from the purser that there was a fire and smoke in the upper galley. I immediately woke up our bunkie to go back to the galley and report. He reported smoke in the galley as well as fumes of unknown origin. We had already contacted maintenance on satcom to discuss the situation and he suggested turning off all utility power which we did. By this time we had received a call from the lower galley that they too were smelling fumes. Since we could not isolate the source of the smoke and fumes and they did not appear to lessen with power removed so I informed dispatch we would divert to ZZZ as it was the nearest suitable. We declared an emergency with ATC and elected not to dump fuel since we couldn't determine the source of the smoke and fumes and wanted to land as soon as possible. We had the flight attendant prepare the cabin (cabin advisory) and requested the equipment standing by. We made an uneventful landing at ZZZ touching down at 714000 pounds with less than 400 FPM down at touchdown. Rollout was uneventful and we taxied to a gate. It was determined by maintenance that the upper galley coffeemaker shorted out. After changing planes we continued on to ZZZZ1. We were carrying an extra pilot to extend our duty time limits. WX in ZZZZ1 had been lousy all day with many diversions. We were in a holding pattern waiting for approach clearance and began to discuss diversion options. I could see the holds getting drawn out with the microbursts and windshear in the area so we requested diversion to ZZZZ3 as we had been told ZZZZ2 couldn't take us due to other diversion. ZZZZ1 ATC is very odd in this respect and asked if we were declaring an emergency. I said no but could not accept any further delays and wished to divert to ZZZZ3. They said it had to be an emergency to divert to ZZZZ3 so I said we were declaring an emergency. At that time they made us #1 for approach into ZZZZ1. We briefed for windshear and carried 20 extra KTS. At approximately 800 ft we got the windshear ahead go around warning and executed the missed approach requested immediate vectors for ZZZZ2. ATC complied and we landed at ZZZZ2. By this time we had been on duty over 19 hours and with no expectation of WX improving soon in ZZZZ1 we informed dispatch we could not go on. Dispatch coordinated with flight operations to have a crew from ZZZZ1 surface to ZZZZ2 to fly the aircraft back to ZZZZ1.

Title: B747-400 FLT CREW ENCOUNTERS FIRE AND SMOKE; WINDSHEAR DIRECTED GAR AND LOW FUEL EMER CONDITIONS ALL IN A SINGLE DAY.
Narrative: WHILE IN CRUISE ON A ROUTINE FLT; WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE PURSER THAT THERE WAS A FIRE AND SMOKE IN THE UPPER GALLEY. I IMMEDIATELY WOKE UP OUR BUNKIE TO GO BACK TO THE GALLEY AND RPT. HE RPTED SMOKE IN THE GALLEY AS WELL AS FUMES OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN. WE HAD ALREADY CONTACTED MAINT ON SATCOM TO DISCUSS THE SITUATION AND HE SUGGESTED TURNING OFF ALL UTILITY PWR WHICH WE DID. BY THIS TIME WE HAD RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE LOWER GALLEY THAT THEY TOO WERE SMELLING FUMES. SINCE WE COULD NOT ISOLATE THE SOURCE OF THE SMOKE AND FUMES AND THEY DID NOT APPEAR TO LESSEN WITH PWR REMOVED SO I INFORMED DISPATCH WE WOULD DIVERT TO ZZZ AS IT WAS THE NEAREST SUITABLE. WE DECLARED AN EMER WITH ATC AND ELECTED NOT TO DUMP FUEL SINCE WE COULDN'T DETERMINE THE SOURCE OF THE SMOKE AND FUMES AND WANTED TO LAND ASAP. WE HAD THE FLT ATTENDANT PREPARE THE CABIN (CABIN ADVISORY) AND REQUESTED THE EQUIP STANDING BY. WE MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG AT ZZZ TOUCHING DOWN AT 714000 LBS WITH LESS THAN 400 FPM DOWN AT TOUCHDOWN. ROLLOUT WAS UNEVENTFUL AND WE TAXIED TO A GATE. IT WAS DETERMINED BY MAINT THAT THE UPPER GALLEY COFFEEMAKER SHORTED OUT. AFTER CHANGING PLANES WE CONTINUED ON TO ZZZZ1. WE WERE CARRYING AN EXTRA PLT TO EXTEND OUR DUTY TIME LIMITS. WX IN ZZZZ1 HAD BEEN LOUSY ALL DAY WITH MANY DIVERSIONS. WE WERE IN A HOLDING PATTERN WAITING FOR APCH CLRNC AND BEGAN TO DISCUSS DIVERSION OPTIONS. I COULD SEE THE HOLDS GETTING DRAWN OUT WITH THE MICROBURSTS AND WINDSHEAR IN THE AREA SO WE REQUESTED DIVERSION TO ZZZZ3 AS WE HAD BEEN TOLD ZZZZ2 COULDN'T TAKE US DUE TO OTHER DIVERSION. ZZZZ1 ATC IS VERY ODD IN THIS RESPECT AND ASKED IF WE WERE DECLARING AN EMER. I SAID NO BUT COULD NOT ACCEPT ANY FURTHER DELAYS AND WISHED TO DIVERT TO ZZZZ3. THEY SAID IT HAD TO BE AN EMER TO DIVERT TO ZZZZ3 SO I SAID WE WERE DECLARING AN EMER. AT THAT TIME THEY MADE US #1 FOR APCH INTO ZZZZ1. WE BRIEFED FOR WINDSHEAR AND CARRIED 20 EXTRA KTS. AT APPROX 800 FT WE GOT THE WINDSHEAR AHEAD GAR WARNING AND EXECUTED THE MISSED APCH REQUESTED IMMEDIATE VECTORS FOR ZZZZ2. ATC COMPLIED AND WE LANDED AT ZZZZ2. BY THIS TIME WE HAD BEEN ON DUTY OVER 19 HRS AND WITH NO EXPECTATION OF WX IMPROVING SOON IN ZZZZ1 WE INFORMED DISPATCH WE COULD NOT GO ON. DISPATCH COORDINATED WITH FLT OPS TO HAVE A CREW FROM ZZZZ1 SURFACE TO ZZZZ2 TO FLY THE ACFT BACK TO ZZZZ1.
