Narrative:
While talking with flight crew; they informed me of a problem with #2 HSI ground speed readout and mi readout being blank. In our conversation; crew made mention of backgnd lights control with rheostat working as he could see lights going dim bright. I was/am aware of separate MEL's for the 2 readouts but chose to use 33-1 to cover both based on my own confusion over the dimming issue. What captain really meant was the HSI backgnd lights were working. In retrospect; I should have used the 2 MEL option as it would have been a better option; and the 'correct' option. I had already realized my possible mistake by my shift's end and told my relief of my suspicions and to have it corrected when aircraft arrived at its current destination of ZZZ1. In ZZZ1; maintenance found a circuit breaker popped. Reset and both indications operations normal.
