Narrative:

After takeoff roll; we both noticed an odor that seemed of electrical origin. At about 800 ft; we went to climb power while turning to a 140 degree heading. At that time; we heard a loud bang with a yaw to the left. I noticed the egt exceeded its limit. At that point; I declared an emergency with the tower. My first officer kept flying the aircraft and said the aircraft was under control. I did the ECAM items and then proceeded to assist my first officer with getting the aircraft back to ZZZ. We received close-in vectors and had the emergency equipment standing by. I called the purser to advise of our emergency. The landing; made by my first officer; was uneventful and we proceeded to the pad where the emergency vehicles did an inspection of the aircraft. Nothing was found; and we proceeded to a gate.
