Narrative:
I was parked on the ramp opposite the entry door of the hangar 1 FBO. My engine was running and my top rotating beacon was in operation. I called for my IFR departure clearance and programmed my GPS while still parked with the engine and beacon running. I called ground control for my taxi clearance and was instructed to taxi to runway 4 for departure. As I released my brakes and started to move forward; a robinson R22 or 44 (not sure which) landed in front of me moving from left to right and skidded in towards the hangar adjacent the FBO. I instinctively hit the brakes and stopped. I suspect the pilot of the helicopter was a student because it was a sloppy landing and he came close to skidding into the hangar. Rather than shutting down and confronting the pilot; I carefully taxied around the helicopter and went on my way. In hindsight; I'm surprised the ground controller didn't warn me of an incoming helicopter and I'm equally surprised the helicopter didn't notice that my engine and beacon were running and that his intended landing spot was also my taxi path to runway 4.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A BE33 WAS CLRED TO TAXI AT MLU BUT WAS FORCED TO MAKE AN ABRUPT STOP TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH AN R22 LNDG ON HIS TXWY.
Narrative: I WAS PARKED ON THE RAMP OPPOSITE THE ENTRY DOOR OF THE HANGAR 1 FBO. MY ENG WAS RUNNING AND MY TOP ROTATING BEACON WAS IN OP. I CALLED FOR MY IFR DEP CLRNC AND PROGRAMMED MY GPS WHILE STILL PARKED WITH THE ENG AND BEACON RUNNING. I CALLED GND CTL FOR MY TAXI CLRNC AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAXI TO RWY 4 FOR DEP. AS I RELEASED MY BRAKES AND STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD; A ROBINSON R22 OR 44 (NOT SURE WHICH) LANDED IN FRONT OF ME MOVING FROM L TO R AND SKIDDED IN TOWARDS THE HANGAR ADJACENT THE FBO. I INSTINCTIVELY HIT THE BRAKES AND STOPPED. I SUSPECT THE PLT OF THE HELI WAS A STUDENT BECAUSE IT WAS A SLOPPY LNDG AND HE CAME CLOSE TO SKIDDING INTO THE HANGAR. RATHER THAN SHUTTING DOWN AND CONFRONTING THE PLT; I CAREFULLY TAXIED AROUND THE HELI AND WENT ON MY WAY. IN HINDSIGHT; I'M SURPRISED THE GND CTLR DIDN'T WARN ME OF AN INCOMING HELI AND I'M EQUALLY SURPRISED THE HELI DIDN'T NOTICE THAT MY ENG AND BEACON WERE RUNNING AND THAT HIS INTENDED LNDG SPOT WAS ALSO MY TAXI PATH TO RWY 4.
