Narrative:
At FL210 in an unpressurized piston aircraft; the ship's oxygen system failed. Immediate action was taken to descend from FL210 to 17000 ft while donning an alternate oxygen mask. After beginning the descent and donning the alternate oxygen mask; ATC was notified. The remainder of the flight was uneventful.

Title: AN M20K IN CRUISE FLT AT FL210 EXPERIENCED FAILURE OF OXYGEN SYS. THE PLT DSNDED TO 17000 FT USING ALTERNATE OXYGEN MASK.
Narrative: AT FL210 IN AN UNPRESSURIZED PISTON ACFT; THE SHIP'S OXYGEN SYS FAILED. IMMEDIATE ACTION WAS TAKEN TO DSND FROM FL210 TO 17000 FT WHILE DONNING AN ALTERNATE OXYGEN MASK. AFTER BEGINNING THE DSCNT AND DONNING THE ALTERNATE OXYGEN MASK; ATC WAS NOTIFIED. THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL.
