Narrative:
As we were pushing back from the fence at lga; it came to the captain's attention that there was another crew member that was deadheading in from another flight and he was to come on board with us. The captain asked air carrier X's ramp if he could proceed back to the fence; but was told that it wasn't possible at that time since there weren't any wing walkers. As we were stationary and blocking the entrance for other company aircraft; we saw the deadheading pilot exit the other aircraft and the captain suggested that we open the aircraft's door so the deadhead pilot could walk across the ramp while being escorted and enter the aircraft; thereby providing a service to the company and pilot. It was not our intention to breach any type of security since the other pilot already passed tsa and got off an air carrier Y aircraft; in an air carrier Y uniform and presented and air carrier Y identify. The pilot informed me that he was to operate our flight; to my surprise. We then proceeded back to the gate and contacted scheduling.
