Narrative:
The PIC received the clearance and made corrections to an already stored flight plan. He accidentally forgot to delete a couple points in the FMS. We were issued wooly direct bross. However; we had our usual flight plan of wooly V214 swann V268 bross in our FMS. ATC questioned our clearance. As I was trying to verify it for him; he issued us a 20 degree left turn. I acknowledged we were issued direct bross and he told us we had missed it. We were then issued a direct bross clearance. It is easy to get complacent when you fly a certain route often. Both pilots need to do checks and balances; and remain fully in the loop. Recommendation is for each pilot to verify the clearance on paper is what is actually typed into the box.

BOTH PLTS NEED TO DO CHKS AND BALS; AND REMAIN FULLY IN THE LOOP. RECOMMENDATION IS FOR EACH PLT TO VERIFY THE CLRNC ON PAPER IS WHAT IS ACTUALLY TYPED INTO THE BOX.
