Narrative:
At about 17000 ft the right engine thrust came back to flight idle; followed shortly after by an EICAS caution 'ENG2 reverser fail.' while handling the situation; the thrust on the right engine came back. Performed precautionary engine shutdown; as is called for in the checklist. Declared emergency; notified ATC; company; flight attendant; performed proper checklists; returned for landing.

Title: AN EMB140 ENG REVERSER FAILED INFLT CAUSING THE ENG TO AUTOMATICALLY REDUCE THRUST. THE ENG WAS SHUT DOWN WITH A RETURN TO LAND.
