Narrative:
Inbound on the seavu.SEAVU1 arrival into lax; we were issued a runway change which resulted in 1) several communications confirmations with ATC. 2) confusion between crew as to the clearance. 3) CDU programming during which the PF failed to follow the new issued track and became task saturated. Feel the PF should have stepped down a level of automation; however; this is hard to do on an RNAV approach. At least the PF could have used MCP for altitude control which would have resulted in a smoother operation. Fatigue was a factor as we had been airborne since XA15 am body clock time.
