Narrative:
On arrival PMM5 into ord we hit wake turbulence from aircraft 8 mi in front of us. Aircraft rolled 30 degrees left and then back to right. Advised ATC and we were given speed reduction to 210 KTS and then told behind a heavy B777. That was first we heard about B777. Winds at altitude were 265 degrees/28 KTS on arrival path.

Narrative: ON ARR PMM5 INTO ORD WE HIT WAKE TURB FROM ACFT 8 MI IN FRONT OF US. ACFT ROLLED 30 DEGS L AND THEN BACK TO R. ADVISED ATC AND WE WERE GIVEN SPD REDUCTION TO 210 KTS AND THEN TOLD BEHIND A HVY B777. THAT WAS FIRST WE HEARD ABOUT B777. WINDS AT ALT WERE 265 DEGS/28 KTS ON ARR PATH.
