Narrative:
We were on the rokil 8 runway 8L RNAV transition. We installed the arrival in the FMC. There was a note we all missed at DM420 which states; 'no turn onto final unless cleared by ATC or during lost communication.' after passing DM420 the airplane made the turn onto base via the arrival in the FMC and ATC questioned us on the turn because they did not clear us for the turn. The note is very vague. It specifically says don't turn onto final; it doesn't say anything about the base turn. Also; it doesn't tell us what to do if we don't get the clearance onto the final by ATC. If this is a normal occurrence for the approach; perhaps the FMC should provide for a route discontinuity.
