Narrative:
En route; notice that fuel totalizer and calculated fuel were diverging. Reviewed logbook for history of fuel totalizer problems. Found item #xx and other previous write-ups on fuel totalizer. Item #xx took place in ZZZ; was deferred; then voided and a balancing write-off of #xx was inserted that maintenance in ZZZ said plane was ok for service. This balancing write-off was also voided. At this point I did not know if #xx was ever cleared by maintenance and that I had taken an airplane with an open item. The airplane had flown 7 times from the item dated dec/sat/06. Called maintenance person on duty; said he was involved in the ZZZ maintenance event. Said the item was cleared for service. I did not agree since there was no balancing entry. All were voided. Upon arrival; maintenance said they showed the item cleared in their computer.
