Narrative:
MEL -- maintenance came to the aircraft at departure time with the logbook; but still needed to verify door operation per MEL. After departure we learned that the mechanic had checked the operation of the left forward entry door and not the r-hand forward door as stated on the flight plan. (We suspect that he should have checked the right forward emergency door.) after departure the right forward emergency door light came on the upper EICAS screen and emergency door light on the overhead panel. The logbook had the action required placard stating the right forward emergency door must be checked prior to each departure. Upon further investigation of MEL; we discovered that the emergency doors are not included. However; on MEL EICAS page; the right emergency door does reference MEL. We recommend MEL be rewritten to include the emergency exit doors in the description to avoid any confusion as to which doors to inspect.

Title: A B767-330 CREW SUGGESTS REWRITING AN MEL TO INCLUDE THE WORDS 'EMERGENCY EXIT' TO AVOID CONFUSION WHEN REFERENCING 'R FWD EXIT' DOOR.
Narrative: MEL -- MAINT CAME TO THE ACFT AT DEP TIME WITH THE LOGBOOK; BUT STILL NEEDED TO VERIFY DOOR OP PER MEL. AFTER DEP WE LEARNED THAT THE MECH HAD CHKED THE OP OF THE L FORWARD ENTRY DOOR AND NOT THE R-HAND FORWARD DOOR AS STATED ON THE FLT PLAN. (WE SUSPECT THAT HE SHOULD HAVE CHKED THE R FORWARD EMER DOOR.) AFTER DEP THE R FORWARD EMER DOOR LIGHT CAME ON THE UPPER EICAS SCREEN AND EMER DOOR LIGHT ON THE OVERHEAD PANEL. THE LOGBOOK HAD THE ACTION REQUIRED PLACARD STATING THE R FORWARD EMER DOOR MUST BE CHKED PRIOR TO EACH DEP. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION OF MEL; WE DISCOVERED THAT THE EMER DOORS ARE NOT INCLUDED. HOWEVER; ON MEL EICAS PAGE; THE R EMER DOOR DOES REF MEL. WE RECOMMEND MEL BE REWRITTEN TO INCLUDE THE EMER EXIT DOORS IN THE DESCRIPTION TO AVOID ANY CONFUSION AS TO WHICH DOORS TO INSPECT.
