Narrative:

I am an administrator for a major airline under far part 121. My responsibility is to review records received from part 145 repair stations for FAA airworthiness compliance. I reviewed an airworthiness directive status report for a prospective lease engine under consideration for DC9 type aircraft operation. The type engine is: P&west JT8-15; serial number ZZZ serviceable aug/xa/06 as referenced on FAA form 8130. As I reviewed the record supplied by the repair station I noticed a high pressure compressor disk (C11) part number 772511; serial number ZZZ as being idented under airworthiness directive (hpc suspect part). Because the repair station reported the disk as not applicable to the referenced airworthiness directive; I believe no corrective action has been accomplished to the affected component. The component in question was accessible and overhauled during a shop repair visit. Maintenance to the disk occurred after the effective date of airworthiness directive. My employer has determined not to accept the engine for part 121 operation. No one else may be aware of this matter and it would be inappropriate for me to contact the repair station directly to communicate my finding.

Title: A DC9 ENG BEING CONSIDERED FOR LEASE APPEARS TO HAVE NOT HAD AN AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE PERTAINING TO THE HIGH PRESSURE COMPRESSOR DISC ACCOMPLISHED.

Narrative: I AM AN ADMINISTRATOR FOR A MAJOR AIRLINE UNDER FAR PART 121. MY RESPONSIBILITY IS TO REVIEW RECORDS RECEIVED FROM PART 145 REPAIR STATIONS FOR FAA AIRWORTHINESS COMPLIANCE. I REVIEWED AN AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE STATUS RPT FOR A PROSPECTIVE LEASE ENG UNDER CONSIDERATION FOR DC9 TYPE ACFT OP. THE TYPE ENG IS: P&W JT8-15; SERIAL NUMBER ZZZ SERVICEABLE AUG/XA/06 AS REFED ON FAA FORM 8130. BECAUSE THE REPAIR STATION RPTED THE DISK AS NOT APPLICABLE TO THE REFED AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE; I BELIEVE NO CORRECTIVE ACTION HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED TO THE AFFECTED COMPONENT. THE COMPONENT IN QUESTION WAS ACCESSIBLE AND OVERHAULED DURING A SHOP REPAIR VISIT. MAINT TO THE DISK OCCURRED AFTER THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE. MY EMPLOYER HAS DETERMINED NOT TO ACCEPT THE ENG FOR PART 121 OP. NO ONE ELSE MAY BE AWARE OF THIS MATTER AND IT WOULD BE INAPPROPRIATE FOR ME TO CONTACT THE REPAIR STATION DIRECTLY TO COMMUNICATE MY FINDING.
