Narrative:
During descent on civet arrival at approximately 11000 ft; we were given clearance to join the ILS glideslope to runway 25R. This was a change from our planned landing on runway 24R. I attempted to update the approach in the FMS as a backup to navigation. We became rushed and got behind. In doing so; we inadvertently extended the slats at 300 KTS. We immediately retracted the slats at the sound of the slat overspd warning; and the captain slowed the aircraft. In the process; we also exceeded 250 below 10000 ft. Our assessment is that instead of focusing on basic aviation; we focused on the FMS and lost proper situational awareness.supplemental information from 726357: had we gone off autoplt and hand flown because we were trying to get rid of the autoplt chasing the localizer this wouldn't have happened.
