Narrative:
During the rigging check after a nosewheel steering cable change; we were getting ready to check the travel of the nose gear. We had disconnected the torsion links and started to actuate the steering wheel. The steering cylinders started turning the steering collar and before the collar centered again; the target bracket on the left side of the gear broke off and the target bracket on the right side bent.
