Narrative:
I was operating a flight from rplc. Both the first officer and myself were unfamiliar with the airport. We were cleared to taxi to runway 2R for takeoff via taxiway F. We had difficulty finding taxiway F as it was not labeled at the ramp. We crossed a wide unmarked taxiway that we both thought was runway 2L. We then approached runway hold short lines for what we thought was runway 2R and was cleared for takeoff. After lining up and verifying runway heading we proceeded with the takeoff roll. At approximately 120 KTS I realized this was not runway 2R but we were taking off on runway 2L. At this time I felt it was more safe to continue. We continued with a normal takeoff and climb out. The only comment from tower was contact departure.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B757 FLT CREW HAS A RWY INCURSION AT RPLC; AND TAKES OFF FROM RWY 2L AFTER BEING CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 2R.
Narrative: I WAS OPERATING A FLT FROM RPLC. BOTH THE FO AND MYSELF WERE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT. WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 2R FOR TKOF VIA TXWY F. WE HAD DIFFICULTY FINDING TXWY F AS IT WAS NOT LABELED AT THE RAMP. WE CROSSED A WIDE UNMARKED TXWY THAT WE BOTH THOUGHT WAS RWY 2L. WE THEN APCHED RWY HOLD SHORT LINES FOR WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS RWY 2R AND WAS CLRED FOR TKOF. AFTER LINING UP AND VERIFYING RWY HDG WE PROCEEDED WITH THE TKOF ROLL. AT APPROX 120 KTS I REALIZED THIS WAS NOT RWY 2R BUT WE WERE TAKING OFF ON RWY 2L. AT THIS TIME I FELT IT WAS MORE SAFE TO CONTINUE. WE CONTINUED WITH A NORMAL TKOF AND CLBOUT. THE ONLY COMMENT FROM TWR WAS CONTACT DEP.
