Narrative:
A rapid depressurization occurred. The cabin altitude immediately went to approximately 15000 ft and the passenger oxygen masks deployed. After the event; the passenger were very nervous and 1 child appeared to be hyperventilating. The flight attendants stabilized the child's breathing. I elected to exercise my emergency authority/authorized and landed overweight. We touched down at a vertical velocity of 500 FPM at a weight of 136200 pounds. The brakes heated up to 100 degrees C; and were checked by crash fire rescue equipment after taxiing off the runway.
