Narrative:
On wednesday; I tied into a l-hand main landing gear lower strut replacement and repack. The lower strut was already removed and the task card main landing gear strut repack had been opened. During the course of the task it was determined that the whole main landing gear strut should be replaced for the sake of expediency. I tied this in to previous shift having not started the removal. I do not know when the forward rock guard panel was removed. The next day I tied back into the job and the direction had been changed to just replacing the strut again. This was after the hydraulic swivels and several other components on the main landing gear had been started to be removed. The task card for the main landing gear replacement had been started and the strut repack had been closed north/a'ing the rest of the steps not accomplished. Then another strut repack card was opened. My lead took the replacement work card and north/a'ed the incomplete steps leaving open the steps required to balance the close items necessary. After the job was completed the next day I closed the log page not knowing the forward rock guard panel had not been installed.
