Narrative:
Taxi after deice for departure on runway 8. Visibility from flight deck poor due to deice and anti-ice on windshields; and snow blowing snow. Missed the hold short line for runway 8 due to snow completely covering the signs and markings. Runway 17 was completely snow covered with no runway markings visible; moreover the runway lights for runway 17 were covered with snow. I realized that I had taxied on the closed runway 17 at the same time the tower notified us of my mistake. The tower said that there was no problem as runway 17 was closed. To add further information; the commercial chart does not depict a hold short point. Snow obscuring signs and markings; taxi chart incomplete; and snow obscuring the runway lights for the closed runway 17. It wasn't until I had reached the far west end of the taxiway; that I realized I had taxied onto the closed runway and therefore past the hold short line for runway 8. No action taken. ATC instructed us to hold our position; and there was no problem. I think that ATC could have issued a caution; that would have given us more insight.

Title: AN ACR PILOT INCURSED CWA RWY 17 TAXIING TO RWY 8. HEAVY SNOW AND DE-ICE FLUID IMPAIRED VISIBILITY. SNOW COVERED RWY SIGNS AND HOLD SHORT LINE.
Narrative: TAXI AFTER DEICE FOR DEP ON RWY 8. VISIBILITY FROM FLT DECK POOR DUE TO DEICE AND ANTI-ICE ON WINDSHIELDS; AND SNOW BLOWING SNOW. MISSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 8 DUE TO SNOW COMPLETELY COVERING THE SIGNS AND MARKINGS. RWY 17 WAS COMPLETELY SNOW COVERED WITH NO RWY MARKINGS VISIBLE; MOREOVER THE RWY LIGHTS FOR RWY 17 WERE COVERED WITH SNOW. I REALIZED THAT I HAD TAXIED ON THE CLOSED RWY 17 AT THE SAME TIME THE TWR NOTIFIED US OF MY MISTAKE. THE TWR SAID THAT THERE WAS NO PROB AS RWY 17 WAS CLOSED. TO ADD FURTHER INFO; THE COMMERCIAL CHART DOES NOT DEPICT A HOLD SHORT POINT. SNOW OBSCURING SIGNS AND MARKINGS; TAXI CHART INCOMPLETE; AND SNOW OBSCURING THE RWY LIGHTS FOR THE CLOSED RWY 17. IT WASN'T UNTIL I HAD REACHED THE FAR W END OF THE TXWY; THAT I REALIZED I HAD TAXIED ONTO THE CLOSED RWY AND THEREFORE PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 8. NO ACTION TAKEN. ATC INSTRUCTED US TO HOLD OUR POS; AND THERE WAS NO PROB. I THINK THAT ATC COULD HAVE ISSUED A CAUTION; THAT WOULD HAVE GIVEN US MORE INSIGHT.
