Narrative:
Closed right wing fuel tank access plate removed for dc start pump replacement. Used proper sealant around plate screws but forgot to seal around edge of plate. Aircraft flew and had overnight layover in ZZZ1. Maintenance technicians were dispatched from ZZZ2 to complete the sealing of the tank plate. Called my duty manager on the way home from work after remembering omission.

Title: AN MD-88 ACFT R WING FUEL TANK ACCESS PLATE NOT SEALED AROUND PLATE EDGE AFTER RE-INSTALLATION.
Narrative: CLOSED R WING FUEL TANK ACCESS PLATE REMOVED FOR DC START PUMP REPLACEMENT. USED PROPER SEALANT AROUND PLATE SCREWS BUT FORGOT TO SEAL AROUND EDGE OF PLATE. ACFT FLEW AND HAD OVERNIGHT LAYOVER IN ZZZ1. MAINT TECHNICIANS WERE DISPATCHED FROM ZZZ2 TO COMPLETE THE SEALING OF THE TANK PLATE. CALLED MY DUTY MGR ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK AFTER REMEMBERING OMISSION.
